I'm not opposed to this general sympathy. On one hand, I feel like there are lots of "little" improvements that can make the program more streamlined and complete, I also recognize that piling on feature after feature can have negative effect on the program's ease of use and resource consumption. Like the poster of this comment, I use UV Outliner for writing, and feel like adding a few tweaks here and there to make it more palatable to writers would tap a HUGE market for a minimalist writing tool (ala Q10) that provides outlining and deconstruction capabilities (all of the current distraction-free writing programs offered now are "merely" word processors). While I understand the desire for some to suggest adding more tables/spreadsheet facilities to the program, I see that most of those functions are already available in Noteliner (or Omni for Mac), and I question the desirability of becoming Just Another Outliner in the PIM/Notetaking class. There is so much more potential here, by doing LESS.

There must not be too many other writers on this forum because spell check and word count are considered de rigueur for a writing program. I think those two would be HUGELY important additions since there exists an enormous market for a decent outliner for writers. Most writers who outline use a method "outside" their word processor but having one integrated would be a gigantic step forward. Some of he best novel-writing software (like Scrivener) utilizes outlining functions as part of it's feature set.

I'm a newcomer, as of July 2012, and I've noticed some oddities with typing speed as well. Deleting, too, with the backspace key, can be a little tricky at times. The cursor appears to stop, but when you let off the key whole chunks of text disappear. It's not a dealbreaker by any means, but it is a little annoying.

I like this idea. I could "tag" different story threads in a novel and work on each plotline separately if I wanted. Or I could tag all scenes involving a certain character, setting, etc. For a novelist the possibilities are endless.

This doesn't seem to be a hugely popular idea, but for my purposes it would be really nice. I would love to be able to format Title/Info/Chapter/Scene/Text styles for novel writing. Now, if we can only get the EXPORT function to play nice... :)

This will be a marvelous innovation, and for me crucial. I'm using UV Outliner for fiction writing, so the multitude of spreadsheet-type options most outliners emphasize are of little consequence. On the other hand, being able to move whole blocks of text, whole scenes and even chapters, without having to move them each one at a time, will be a dream come true.
